…oh where oh where could it be?I had a beautiful, healthy 8lb baby girl. Yay! Now, will my body ever get back to the way it used to be? If you’re like me, you wanted your body back the day after you had your baby. Yes, it took nine months to create your little bundle of joy but to know it might take just as long or longer to get your body back is agony for any mom.
When I was just about 8 months pregnant, I remember a fellow mom explained to me how difficult it was to lose weight and get back in shape after her babies. She laughed as she explained in detail how she did it after each pregnancy. It was almost like, “Ha, ha, been there. Done that. Oh and good luck.” Not supportive to say the least. The last bit of salt in the wound was when she told me I might never get there…while laughing! Not cool.
People seemed ready and willing to talk “baby weight” every step of the way during my second pregnancy. Random comments. Random people. Pretty annoying but why get mad? I kept it in perspective. When it was time, I started my workout regimen with some clear goals in mind. It began at a slow pace with walking, kick boxing, exercise balling, weight lifting, etc. I included a good mix of different exercises and worked my way up to tougher work-outs. And, every work-out included the dreaded sit-ups. Ug.
When I was pushing myself really hard during a work-out, ready to cry, ready to puke, ready to give up, I thought of all the comments people made throughout my pregnancy and childbirth journey. A strange thing happened… It motivated me to push forward! Crazy, right?
I kept at it and reached the goals I set for myself a few months later. My old body isn’t exactly there anymore but I figure, perfection is in the eye of the beholder. And, I’m not aiming for perfect!
As long as I don’t have to lay down to zip up my jeans, I am a happy camper….
I know! Me too… the beautiful babies we have but that little pooch we are left with!

I *try* and look at my pouchy tummy and tell myself that it is a little reminder that my body created 2 beautiful boys. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I just wish for a tummy tuck.

I know it is SO tough and hard to find the time! I'm up working out when it is still dark outside in the morning! I just keep plugging away. I like working out though or taking walks with my family! We are our own worst critics about this stuff too! Hang in there 🙂

I totally need to get back on it and start an exercise routine. I'm not aiming for perfect either, but I'd like to be able to fit into my regular clothes again. I just had two babies, pretty much back to back. They're one year apart. So my body is nowhere near what it used to be.
