Be on top of your work at all times, in case something comes up with your child and you need to be out of the office

Consider yourself, and what you can handle before taking on too much

Determine a schedule that suits you and your family best

Expect to be overwhelmed as you settle into life as a working mom

Find a great daycare, one that instantly makes you feel comfortable and secure

Go check out each daycare; observe it while children are there to get a true feeling for the care setting

Have a cup of tea or coffee at work every morning, and sip it slowly – just because you can!

Investigate as many daycares as you need until you find the right one

Juggling your tasks is necessary; just don’t take on more than you can handle

Know you are still the most important person in your child’s life, and they will light up when you pick them up at the end of the day!

Learn from other mom friends who have gone back to work already; seek their advice, wisdom and tips for working mom success

Make the best of your time at work so you feel accomplished and rewarded

Never let anyone tell you how much you can or can’t handle – it’s up to you!

Openly communicate with your boss; employees, daycare and family to ensure your transition, and working mom lifestyle are manageable

Plan fun weekend adventures with your family, making the most of your time together

Quickly establish your working routine, and be honest about what you can handle, and what you can’t

Reveal your fears and concerns to your partner, family or friends – talking about it will make you feel much better

Spend your non-working hours with your child! Make the best of that time.

Take time for yourself as necessary; take a class at the gym, go see a movie, have a drink with friends. You deserve it!!

  1. Yes, great list from Kristin! Taking care of yourself is an important one. Practicing that myself in the new year. Getting some "me time" is on the list for sure.
