Book Review: The Energy Bus

We all face challenges and adversity in our lives. Negativity can take hold and sabotage your thoughts, health, and happiness. We have a plethora of research at our fingertips that describes how positive energy and positive interactions can improve our lives, make us more productive and increase our happiness. To create success at home or at work we have to overcome the negative way of thinking and that can be a challenge.

Written by Jon Gordon, The Energy Bus is an inspiring story about a man named George who has challenges with his marriage, his team at work, and his life overall.

The story begins with a Monday morning and a flat tire. That flat tire and subsequent car repairs change George’s life because that is how he met Joy, the bus driver. George had no choice but to take the bus to work until his car was fixed. And Joy was no ordinary bus driver because she made it her mission in life to be an Energy Ambassador. She tried to energize everyone who came on her bus.

As the story unfolds, Joy shared her life lessons with George. Everything happens for a reason. Every person you encounter can teach you a lesson. Every problem is a gift. You can choose to see a challenge in your life as a lesson or a curse. It’s up to you.

As George learns the 10 Rules of Positive Energy Joy and the other passengers share, he begins to see how looking at life with a positive lens can help him thrive at home, at work, and with his children. It turned his life around meeting Joy and his new friends on The Energy Bus.

From Rule #1 to Rule #10, learn how you are the one who has to take responsibility for your life. You are the person who must take your vision and focus your bus (ie: your life) in the right direction that works for you.

Your positive energy is the fuel that will keep you going. Your tribe will join you and support you. And the people who don’t support you or try to bring you down with their negative energy shouldn’t be on your bus.  Negativity is the enemy and enthusiasm is the energy.

Ready to make a change in your life? All it takes is one small thought at a time. The Energy Bus can be the first step you make toward the positive and productive life you deserve.
