A Week Without Facebook

FacebookFacebook. Some people love it and others hate it. As a marketer, I find the amount of information collected about each user fascinating. As a user, it seems really creepy. We still use it though and many are addicted to it.

Viewing Facebook is such a habit that many don’t realize how often they do it. The constant scrolling of the newsfeed, stalking of friends and burying the face in the phone. We’ve all done it. We’re so used to Facebook being a part of our lives that it’s shocking when someone doesn’t have a profile. Continue reading

Book Review: Body of Work

Book Review: Body of WorkJob longevity is becoming more rare these days. An employee staying at a job over 5 to 10 years is almost shocking. It’s not because people are fickle, but industries cycle and positions are cut.

As employees, we often get locked into tunnel thinking. Our job title becomes our identity and we can forget that we do so much more outside of work. That’s a scary mindset when you can lose your job at any time. Here today, gone tomorrow. Continue reading

Your Conference Survival Kit

Your Conference Survival KitDo you attend conferences and events as part of the job? I went to the Digital Summit in Scottsdale, AZ for the second year in a row. It’s a great event for digital marketers or any type of marketer.

Book Review: Escape From Cubicle Nation

Escape From Cubicle NationAre you in the land of cubes and ready to escape?

Pamela Slim sure was. I read her 2010 book Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur a couple times.

The cover with the people looking over the cube walls is pretty funny and so are her references to the corporate satire Office Space, a great movie to see if you are a cube dweller.

Pamela’s book provides the aspiring entrepreneur with a healthy dose of reality as he or she dreams about taking that leap from the corporate to entrepreneurship. Continue reading

I added pages, gadgets, widgets and html codes. I even have followers which is pretty cool. I am excited when each person joins. I have met wonderful people out there in the bloggity world! I even crack up when I use words such as: gadgets, widgets, html and bloggity. It’s crazy really.

I like to write about the juggling act of being a mom and the positive outlook I “try” to maintain. I take my time writing each post because I want people to read quality writings and not just a post for the sake of posting. Continue reading
